Assalamualaikum everyone,

ISOC UNSW would like to wish everyone Ramadan Kareem ☪️.

As many of you may already know from your loved ones, Ramadan 2024/1445AH 🌙 is set to commence on the evening of Monday, March 11, with the first day of fasting beginning on Tuesday, March 12.

Did You Know? The name ‘Ramadan’ comes from ‘Ramidha’ or ‘Ar-Ramidha’, which translates to ‘intense scorching heat.’ This is symbolic of how Ramadan purifies the souls of believers, much like how the sun evaporates water, leaving the earth purified.

Our Commitment to You This Ramadan:

The Islamic Society is once again honored to support our campus community—our sisters 🧕 and brothers 👳—throughout this sacred month. We’re dedicated to enriching your spiritual journey with a variety of activities including iftar gatherings, Taraweeh prayers, Jumu’ah prayer, and the daily prayers at the ISOC Musalla, located at Level 3 Square House, UNSW.

Event Highlights:

Salah & Taraweeh

Join us for Taraweeh and Isha prayers starting at 8:45 pm on March 11th, continuing through the end of Ramadan. These sessions will include Witr prayer and consist of 8 Rakah, adhering to the ISOC Ramadan timetable.

Jumu’ah Prayer

Our regular Jumu’ah prayer will continue as usual at the Uni basketball court, level 1 Uni Gym, at 1:15 pm. We warmly welcome both sisters and brothers to participate. For more information visit here.

Iftars

Throughout Ramadan, we will provide dates and water at the Musallah. Additionally, we will host large-scale catered Iftars based on donations and availability. To stay informed, we encourage you to follow our social media updates or sign up for our newsletter for timely notifications. Please note that reservations are required for these events.

In keeping with our tradition, we also plan to host Iftar events internationally, in countries such as India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Nigeria, Syria, and more, continuing our efforts from previous years.

Supporting Our Cause:

Those interested in contributing to our local or international Iftar initiatives can make donations at the donation boxes located in the lower campus musallah or via bank transfer (ensuring to specify the donation purpose clearly). Please note that proceeds from the donation machines in the Musallah will be allocated towards the mosque project.
