Friday Prayer

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا إِذَا نُودِىَ لِلصَّلَوٰةِ مِن يَوْمِ ٱلْجُمُعَةِ فَٱسْعَوْا إِلَىٰ ذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ وَذَرُوا ٱلْبَيْعَ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌۭ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ ٩
O believers! When the call to prayer is made on Friday, then proceed ˹diligently˺ to the remembrance of Allah and leave off ˹your˺ business. That is best for you, if only you knew.

Jum'a prayer at UNSW

Jum’a aka Friday prayers is held throughout the year including the summer and winter holiday breaks. Various speakers are invited to give the Friday sermons on campus including some prominent Muslim speakers in Australia, international Muslim speakers and at times some of UNSW’s very own Muslim students or staff members. Over 400 brothers and sisters attend the Friday sermons, weekly.

Jum'a prayer timing

Following is the timing of the Jum'a prayer hosted by ISOC UNSW for all brothers and sisters. We recommend bringing your own prayer mat when attending Jum'a.

Jum'a prayer Location

We hold the Jum'a prayer at the following location. There is no Jum'a prayer at the Musallah due to space limitations. If you need to do wudu, please use dedicated wudu facilities at level 3, Squarehouse UNSW.

Getting to Jum'a prayer at UNSW 

Accessibility
UNSW Fitness and Aquatic centre is fully accessible with full wheelchair access, but be sure to phone ahead for any particular requirements so we can provide assistance as necessary.
Driving and Parking
UNSW Fitness and Aquatic centre is located in the North-West corner of UNSW Kensington Campus. Few free parking spots are available on the High Street but very difficult to get. However, dedicated paid parking is available near the centre. Please visit here for parking information.
Public Transport
Light Rail
With the light rail, you can now arrive at our doorstep within 15 minutes of Sydney's CBD.  The L3 Kingsford line has a stop near University Mall on Anzac Parade for the lower campus. Catch the L3 Kingsford line and disembark at the UNSW Anzac Parade stop.
Bus
Less than 15 minutes from Sydney’s CBD, UNSW Fitness and Aquatic centre is easily accessible with nearly 1,700 UNSW express bus services per week from Central station.
Cycling
UNSW is accessible for cyclists with bike racks available across campus.
