Islamic Society of UNSW (ISOC UNSW)

Serving the community since 1969
The official UNSWMSA

"A Society for Students, Staff and Community

Since its establishment in 1969, the Islamic Society (ISOC UNSW) has been entrusted by the University of New South Wales as the official Muslim Student Association (UNSWMSA) to provide services and facilities for the Muslim community. Under the virtues of “Faith, Unity, Peace”, ISOC provides not only for the students and staff members, but also locals residing within the Eastern Suburbs and beyond. The community at ISOC is very diverse with an ethical demographic made up of cultures from all corners of the world and it is here at ISOC that many of our members have discovered and benefitted from the cross-cultural friendships that they have built and continued to treasure.
As a religious society with numerous members, ISOC has been entrusted by the university with good facilities to help it meet the needs of its members. The facilities include a prayer room and facilities for ablutions. These facilities have encouraged and alerted scores of Muslim students to be more active and receptive to Islam. As a consequence, students have grasped the reigns of the society, strengthening the local community and advocating the spirit that creates a Muslim Ummah, whilst growing an insightful understanding of Islam and rallying to calls to defend Islam from any negative and biased opinions. UNSW has embraced ISOC and has enjoyed a very supportive and cooperative relationship with ISOC.
